Growth of industrial output slowed slightly in October, construction output increased

The growth rate of Slovakia's industrial output in October remained almost unchanged, slowing by just 0.1 percentage points month-on-month to 13.4 percent in October. According to the latest figures of the Statistics Office of the Slovak Republic, the growth dynamics of industrial output in Slovakia have been slowing for five consecutive months since a high in may of 28.7 percent.

According to the latest figures of the Statistics Office of the Slovak Republic, the growth dynamics of industrial output in Slovakia have been slowing for five consecutive months since a high in may of 28.7 percent.

The Statistics Office identifies an increase in supplies of electricity, gas, steam and cool air (+15.3 percent), industrial manufacturing (+13.5 percent) and a decline in mining and extraction of raw industrial materials (-3.4 percent) as lying behind the October figure. Net of seasonal influences, industrial production in October was 1.1 percentage points higher than in September, the SITA newswire reported, citing the Statistics Office report.

The downturn in Slovakia's construction output that began more than a year ago stopped in October, when construction output rose 4 percent from a year ago, to €538.4 million. Net of seasonal influences, construction activity in October was two percent higher than in September, the Statistics Office reported.
