Harabin added that he would not be disappointed if the judges, whom he personally prefers and whom he has advised the current members of the council to vote for, did not make it onto the Judicial Council.

He also predicted that the Initiative for Open Justice (ZOJ) would cast doubt on the results of the vote, claiming that they plan to turn to the Constitutional Court if two of their candidates do not make it onto the council, Sme.sk website wrote.

“I regret that the chair of the Judicial Council is continuously attacking some judges,” said ZOJ president Katarína Javorčíková, as quoted by the website. “I stress that ZOJ has not proposed any candidates.”

She added that she does not know where Harabin got such information.

Other Supreme Court judges were not as talkative as their president when it came to the vote or the e-mail specifying his favoured candidates which Harabin sent them at the end of last week.

“I think that every judge is mature enough to have his own opinion,” said one of the voting judges, as quoted by the Sme.sk website.
