Former Supreme Court president and failed presidential candidate Štefan Harabin has withdrawn his candidacy to lead the court again.

He announced his decision at a press conference on September 5, only four days before the election which is scheduled for September 9.
As he explained to the media, President Zuzana Čaputová has already said that she does not guarantee that she will automatically appoint the candidate elected by the Judicial Council. She wants to consider his or her appropriateness for herself.
“The top political caste is trying to steal the country and have it all for themselves,” he said, as quoted by the Sme daily. In his opinion, only a person approved by the politicians can become the president of the Supreme Court.
