The re-election of Supreme Court chief justice Štefan Harabin to another five-year term was termed "bad news for justice, for reform and for citizens" by Justice Minister Daniel Lipšic. Harabin, whose controversial decisions include the awarding of special bonuses to judges who freed former secret service boss Ivan Lexa from pre-trial custody, was elected on Friday by 10 members of the judicial council, with 6 against and 2 abstentions.
