Harmonised inflation reached 3.9 percent year-on-year in October

EU-harmonised inflation in Slovakia reached 3.9 percent year-on-year in October, 0.1 percentage points higher than the figure recorded in September, the Slovak Statistics Office (ŠÚ) announced on Thursday, November 14.

Meanwhile, harmonised inflation calculated using the national methodology averaged 3.9 percent in the 12 months to October, 0.1 percentage points lower than the previous month, the TASR newswire reported, citing the ŠÚ.

Month-on-month developments were mainly influenced by rises in the prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages (which increased the rate by 0.17 percentage points), alcoholic beverages and tobacco (0.07 p.p.), clothing and footwear (0.06 p.p.), health (0.04 p.p.), hotels, cafes and restaurants (0.03 p.p.), miscellaneous goods and services (0.02 p.p.), recreation and culture (0.02 p.p.), housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (0.01 p.p.), and education (0.01 p.p.),

Conversely, prices of furniture, household equipment and ordinary household maintenance had a downward influence of 0.01 p.p., while those of transport had a negative effect of 0.02 p.p.
