JAROSLAV Haščák, a co-owner of the Penta financial group, has challenged a recent ruling of the Regional Court in Bratislava which allowed the publishing of Gorilla, a book written by Slovak - Canadian journalist Tom Nicholson, former editor-inchief of The Slovak Spectator. Paradoxically, the book has already been released and has made the list of bestsellers, the SITA newswire reported.
Haščák figures prominently in the Gorilla file, a document purportedly containing transcripts of recordings made by the Slovak Information Service (SIS) intelligence agency in 2005-6, which allegedly pointed to high-level political corruption. He challenged the book’s publication shortly after the document appeared on the internet in December 2011.
In February 2012 the Bratislava I District Court passed a preliminary injunction that halted the book’s publication. However, the Bratislava Regional Court overturned the ruling in June.
