“The culture minister accepted his decision and thanked for his four years of work at the helm of the museum,” the ministry informed the SITA newswire. Details of the upcoming tender for the new SNM head have not been published as yet.

Púdelka has led the SNM since February 1, 2010. Before, he led one of the SNM branches – the Museum of Slovak National Councils in Myjava. He won the tender for the general manager of SNM in which four contestants participated after previous SNM head, Peter Maráky, was recalled by then (and also current) Culture Minister Marek Maďarič on August 24. Both the NM and the ministry refused to comment on the reasons for Maráky’s dismissal.
