Health care reforms proposed by major political parties

Ano - New Citizen's Alliance (right-wing, non-parliamentary)

* Cap growing debt
* Self-financed health packages in addition to basic free universal package
* Make health system more flexible and competitive
* Introduce equal conditions for both public and private health providers
* Remove provision and finance of health care from state to control of providers

* Satisfactory health care for all citizens from basic health insurance payments
* Cap debt and create multi-source financing
* Stress prevention over treatment
* Bring number of hospital beds in line with EU norms, shorten treatment time
* Subsidies for people who can't afford prescribed medicines

KDH - Christian Democrats (right-wing, government)

* Increase state payments for economically inactive people
* Personal health insurance accounts and additional voluntary health insurance
* Restructure health care institutions
* Unify health records, create information networks
* National airlift system for acute emergencies

* Home visits by doctors to improve awareness of hereditary illnesses
* Increase health care spending, hire more expert managers
* Privatise health facilities, reduce corruption
* Multi-source system of financing, additional health insurance policies
* Loans for start-up private doctors
