Health problems prevent Fico from attending July 8 cabinet meeting

Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico will not attend a session of the government in Bánov (Nitra region) on Wednesday, July 8, due to an unexpected neck condition. Interior Minister and Deputy Premier Robert Kaliňák will head the session instead, the government’s press and information department announced.

At the same time, the premier has cancelled all planned commitments until Sunday, July 12. Due to his sore neck, a meeting with Slovak Academy of Sciences (SAV) chairman Jaromír Pastorek due earlier on Tuesday, July 7, was also called off.

Cabinet members meeting in Bánov will take part in a symbolic ceremony marking the beginning of the harvest and will learn about the cultivation of common wheat as well as the needs of the local farmers.
