PHYSICIANS and nurses protested against the current policy in the health sector and Health Minsiter Rudolf Zajac on September 10, the daily SME wrote.
It was the first large protest of employees working in the health sector. About 8,000 people gathered on Sloboda square in Bratislava. Previously not more than 600 people have taken part in such protests. Some people even travelled from eastern parts of Slovakia such as Spiš, Michalovce and Košice.
Protesters demanded more financial sources to the sector as well as an increase in salaries. Representatives of health chambers and associations are expected to submit proposals to revise some principles of reform of Minister Zajac to the government and parliament.
