“The gravest situation was in Utekáč in the Poltár District, where a landslide cut off the municipality for several hours,” Piater said, adding that the disaster resulted in one injury. In Čierny Balog, 40 people had to be evacuated and as of Tuesday, June 25, a third-degree flood emergency was announced in 16 municipalities in the region.

A storm on late Monday and early Tuesday, combined with torrential downpours, also prompted a third-degree flood alert in Dravce in the eastern Levoča District. The mayor, Elena Bašistová, told the TASR newswire that the local road was damaged and that water flooded the yards of about 15 houses. The eastern districts also reported several landslides, fallen trees on roads and damage to bridges crossing local rivers and streams.
