Heavy snow in parts of High Tatras

Font size: A - | A +

UP to 40 centimetres of snow has fallen in parts of the High Tatras at an altitude of 1,600 metres above sea level and higher.

The Mountain Rescue Service (HZS) is suggesting, therefore, that plans to climb high mountains and should be cancelled, the TASR news wire reported.

The HZS is also warning tourists that mountain paths are now slippery, and that hiking in exposed areas in the Tatras requires knowledge of the terrain and proper winter clothing.
