Twenty-three wild boars were killed when they were hit by a single truck travelling on the R1 dual carriageway between Nitra and Trnava in western Slovakia, the SITA newswire wrote. The accident happened near the village of Pata shortly after 02:30 on Tuesday, August 24.
Firefighters from Galanta and Sereď helped remove the carcasses, which covered the road for more than a hundred metres. The R1 had to be closed in one direction until 04.08 to allow for the clean-up, spokesperson for the Regional Directorate of the Firefighting and Rescue Corps in Trnava Ivan Peťko told SITA.
