ELECTIONS to the Higher Territorial Unit (VÚC) regional governments scheduled for November 26 will probably see a low turnout. Around 40 percent of voters consider regional governments unnecessary, according to a poll carried out by the MVK agency for the daily SME.
Another 20 percent of those questioned in the poll said that they were undecided as to whether regional governments are of any importance.
Sociologist Pavel Haulík from MVK expects voter turnout to be as low as 15 to 25 percent. He said that people's disgust over recent political scandals would contribute to a low turnout.
