Banská Bystrica regional Governor and MP for the ĽSNS party deserved this victory with his statement about introducing censorship and limiting the rights of LGBTI people, head of the Human Rights Institute Peter Weisenbacher told the SITA newswire.
“We will introduce rules to control the content of media; we will not allow our children to be fooled by perversities,” is the statement that helped Kotleba beat the number of votes of even MP Boris Kollár for the Sme rodina / We Are Family party.
Kollár defined the right family as “the father, the mother and children; or, at the most, a mum, a mum, a mum, a mum, a mum, a mum, a mum – and my children! Two faggots? That’s perverted!” Kollár is renowned, apart from being a businessman, as a multiple father who has nine children with eight women, and expects another one with still a new “mum”.
People sent a total of 16,340 votes for the poll which offers as a trophy a stylised pictogram: a deformed face that includes the inscription “4%”, referring to the traditionally estimated number of non-heterosexual people among a given population. The trophy was made by designer Maroš Schmidt.
Past laureates were MP Štefan Kuffa for his statement that he would “drown the gays”, the Conference of Bishops of Slovakia for claiming that human rights activists are “players of the culture of death” and the spokesman of the Alliance for Family Anton Chromík. They refused to receive the prize in person.
