THE DEBT of health-care facilities towards the state-run social insurer Sociálna Poisťovňa continues to rise in 2014, the TASR newswire reported.
By the end of January 2014, hospitals owed €89.7 million in insurance, a month-on-month increase in debt by €3.3 million.
The insurer currently lists 21 health-care facilities as its debtors, five of which are owned by the state and 16 of which are at least partially owned by the regions. The debt of the state-run hospitals reached €58 million at the end of January, up by €2.7 million month-on-month. The other hospitals owed €31.6 million by the end of January, up by €673,000 month-on-month.
