Gas prices for households in Slovakia are set to rise by an average of 6.92 percent as of Wednesday, July 20, with the price of gas used for all household heating rising by 9.37 percent.
"While the Slovak gas utility SPP proposed a price increase of 40.43 percent, the Office for the Regulation of Network Industries (ÚRSO) decided on an increase of just 9.37 percent," said ÚRSO head Jozef Holjenčík for the TASR newswire. According to Holjenčík, the "the gas market has become competitive and is working smoothly as other distributors have become active in the market.”
