Households getting fewer benefits

A comparison of real household incomes from 1998 to 2001 has shown that the average household earned only 95.8 per cent as much last year as four years ago, due to an almost 30 per cent decline in income from social benefits. Income from work, meanwhile, increased slightly by 2.8 per cent from 1998 to 2001.
