Prime Minister Robert Fico said he does not support the idea of homosexual couples having the right to adopt a child, so he will not support steps that would enable this in Slovakia, the prime minister’s spokesperson told the TASR newswire on October 21.
Pavol Hrušovský, head of the Christian Democrats (KDH), called on Fico on October 21 never to submit the EU Adoption Treaty to parliament for ratification. It was passed earlier this week by the EU Council, with the support of the vote of Foreign Affairs Minister Ján Kubiš. The treaty, under specific conditions, allows homosexual couples to adopt children. TASR
