The mayor of the Hucín municipality, Ľubomír S., was caught by police red-handed. The mayor, aged 43, was allegedly caught accepting a bribe after he had asked for €10,000 from a personal business contact.
“He [the mayor] was supposed to have gotten the money for approving a sale of land by the Slovak Land Fund (SPF) from the businessman,” Police Presidium spokesperson Andrea Dobiášová told the SITA newswire about the mayor of the municipality in the Revúca District in central Slovakia. The investigator for the National Criminal Agency (NAKA) has charged the mayor with the crime of accepting a bribe. If convicted, he faces five to 12 years in prison. The investigator has prepared the request for his custody.
TV Joj informed that on the morning of Thursday, June 27, Ľubomír S. was detained at the municipal office, along with the municipal auditor. The TV channel alleged that several criminal complaints had been filed against the mayor in the past, but he had not been charged.
