THE SLOVAK Helsinki Committee, a human rights organisation in Bratislava, has criticised a plan for special facilities to accommodate asylum seekers who are chronic rule-breakers.
A recent amendment to the Slovak asylum law stipulates the establishment of separate facilities for asylum seekers who violate the internal rules of an asylum camp, behave in a violent manner, or who are suspected of committing a crime, the SITA news agency wrote.
The Slovak Helsinki Committee would like to strike the amendment from the law. It argues that the amendment turns asylum seekers thought to have violated the law into a special category of criminal suspect.
