SMK boss Béla Bugár said that SIS director Ladislav Pittner would lose the confidence of the SMK if he failed to sack Šimko.

According to the SMK, Šimko made a mistake when he recently leaked information on corruption within the sector. Bugár said that the SMK had no problems with SIS reporting such information, but that it should inform only those whom it concerns.

Prime Minister Mikuláš Dzurinda said that the SMK had the right to hold an opinion and made no further comments on the demands.
