Hungarian Foreign Affairs Minister János Martonyi visited Košice on October 23 on the occasion of the Hungarian national holiday celebrating the anti-communist revolution of 1956.
At the East Slovak Museum (Východoslovenské múzeum-VSM), Martonyi opened Slovak-Hungarian exhibition "Parallel Stories - Budapest and Košice", which focuses on the 19th century urban development of the two cities.
“We see a lot of parallels and I don't mean only the urban plans and projects,” said Martonyi about the exhibition at the opening. “We can learn about our common past and we can see out that we have a common present, but also the future.”
The opening was attended also by the Košice Regional Governor Zdenko Trebuľa, VSM Director Robert Pollák, Budapest Historical Museum Director Sándor Bodó, former Slovak President Rudolf Schuster, and Košice Mayor Richard Raši.
