Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán, who is visiting Slovakia on Tuesday, December 14, will have a working lunch with senior officials of the non-parliamentary Hungarian Coalition Party (SMK) said József Berényi of the party to the SITA newswire.
He and Gyula Bárdos will meet with the Hungarian prime minister to discuss several pending issues such as Slovakia’s latest changes to the State Language Act and the dual citizenship controversy, which they perceive as being abandoned by the current ruling coalition after pre-election promises.
The SMK senior officials and Orbán are also to discuss the blueprint of the law on use of languages of national minorities. Another topic on the agenda will be the SMK results in Slovakia’s November municipal elections.
The Hungarian prime minister is not planning to meet with representatives of the Most-Híd party which was founded in 2009 after former SMK leader Béla Bugár and his supporters split from SMK due to dissatisfaction with the party leadership. Unlike SMK, Most-Hid made it to parliament in June. Most-Híd chairman Bugár confirmed that his party is not meeting with Orbán.
The Hungarian prime minister is touring EU countries before his country assumes the EU presidency for the next six months on January 1, 2011.
