Hungary and Slovakia end checks

SLOVAK and Hungarian customs authorities signed an agreement to cooperate in eliminating border checks after May 2004, when both states enter the EU.

According to the state-run TASR news agency, all aspects of customs, including road signs, will be gradually eliminated. Slovakia and Hungary share a 680-kilometre long border.
