The autumn event of the animal charity project Nájdite sa / Find Yourselves, which strives to bring together shelter animals and prospective owners, was successful once again.
On September 16, as many as 15 animal shelters offered their pets for adoption in the Gamekeeper’s Lodge in Bratislava’s Horský Park. Prospective owners could come to see an animal they like, try to walk it, and find out about its habits and character. The sixth event in the project’s history proved as useful and successful as its previous ones – nineteen originally pet-less people left Horský Park as proud new owners, the Staromestské noviny, local newspaper for the Old Town borough, wrote.
The most prominent – and, as a known cat-lover, maybe the least probable – owner of a new dog was the Old Town mayor, Tatiana Rosová. Her tomcat, Akira, got a new friend, a cross-bred dog called Marty from the animal shelter in Žiar nad Hronom. “We learned that if we let people get to know the animal personally, it is much easier for them to find a way to each other’s heart,” she said. “In two years, we managed to find 92 new homes for dogs and cats in this way,” Rosová announced.
