Confidence in Slovak industry deteriorated in April after two months of growth, as the indicator prepared by the Slovak Statistics Office fell 4.4 points from March to negative 0.7 point in April, the SITA newswire wrote.
The development was influenced particularly by a decline in demand for industrial products and in expected production levels over the next three months.
Respondents’ evaluation of current industrial production improved from the previous survey as the indicator went up 5 points from March to 20 points in April. Its value exceeded the long-term average by 3 points. Optimistic expectations were recorded in nearly all sectors, except for producers of electric power, natural gas, and water.
Expectations of aggregate demand compared with March deteriorated in April by 11 points to 27 points. Negative expectations were noted among producers of electrical and optical devices and in wood processing. No sector was optimistic about the development of overall demand.
Expectations of foreign demand fell by as much as 21 points to negative 25 points in April, SITA wrote, with no sector optimistic about the development of overall foreign demand.
