Industrial orders increase in Slovakia in August

New industrial orders in Slovakia significantly increased in August in comparison with other countries of the European Union, the SITA newswire reported.

New industrial orders in Slovakia significantly increased in August in comparison with other countries of the European Union, the SITA newswire reported.

According to statistical data released by Eurostat, Slovakia registered a 12.6-percent increase in the number of industrial orders month-on-month while the annual number of orders rose by 9.5 percent.

The number of orders in the rest of the EU grew by only 0.4 percent month-on-month and by 6.5 percent year-on-year. Countries of the eurozone registered slightly worse numbers as the average number of industrial orders rose by 1.9 percent compared to July and by 6.2 percent compared to the same period in 2010.

Other than for Slovakia, the most significant rise in the monthly number of orders was registered in Estonia (11.2 percent increase month-on-month) and Hungary (11.1 percent month-on-month). In yearly terms, the biggest increase in the number of industrial orders was in Estonia (41.1 percent), Bulgaria (25.3 percent) and Lithuania (15.8 percent).
