Sales in industry in Slovakia in October maintained their growth rate when they surged 7.5 percent year-on-year to €7.496 billion. According to the Slovak Statistics Office (ŠÚ) data published on Tuesday, December 11, the annualised development of sales in industry was particularly influenced by sales growth in the manufacturing of transport equipment - by 12.9 percent.
Sales in manufacturing of computers, electronic and optical products increased by 16.4 percent and sales in the production of food, beverages and tobacco rose by 18.6 percent. Sales in manufacturing of metals and metal structures also increased, apart from machinery and equipment, by 4.2
Percent, and in the production of machinery and equipment not classified elsewhere, by 8.2 percent. Sales posted a downward trend in particular in other manufacturing areas, such as repair and installation of machinery and equipment by 8.3 percent and in manufacturing of Coke and refined petroleum products by 5.3 percent.
In the construction sector, the trend of a significant drop in sales continued in October, the SITA newswire quoted the ŠÚ. With monthly sales of €776.2 million, they fell year-on-year by 18.5 percent. The growth rate of sales in transportation and storage compared to the previous month significantly accelerated. Total sales in this sector increased by 14.4 percent to €628.6 million. Sales in information and communication services rose by 5.1 percent, to €472.4 million. Totally for ten months of this year, sales in industry rose 8.6 percent to €68.709 billion. Sales of construction firms decreased by 15.1 percent to €6.232 billion, while in transportation and storage sales increased by 8.8 percent to €5.723 billion. Sales in information and communication services rose by 5.5 percent to €4.183 billion.
