“Clients also reported damage to electrical wiring due to lightning strikes, while the roof of one farm building collapsed and sewage systems were flooded,” said Artur Šturmankin, the company’s corporate communications specialist, as quoted by the TASR newswire. “The hail caused damage to cars, vineyards and crops.”

The insurer estimates the damage at over €190,000 for now, and expects more claims to come in over the next few days.

ČSOB Poisťovňa spokesperson Zuzana Eliášová said that the insurer has received claims concerning water flooding living rooms via other closed rooms and the flooding of basement areas. She added that the company is currently completing its examination of claims filed in response to the floods in Žilina Region two weeks ago. The insurer has already completed four fifths of the claims, as reported by TASR.
