THE INTERIOR Ministry paid more than Sk1 million (€30,000) to a Czech advisory firm for a poll on the police and firefighters. The poll was designed to find out public opinion on police officers, firefighters and the ministry itself.
The Czech company Takt is to conduct seven similar polls, at a cost of around Sk7 million (€180,000) in total, the daily Pravda reported.
The head of the MVK agency, Pavel Haulík, says the price is high and that it would be possible to undertake them for much less money. The price for one such survey is normally from Sk250,000 to Sk500,000 (€6,500 to 13,000).
The Interior Ministry chose the Czech firm Takt directly and did not conduct a public tender. The ministry has been criticized for the high number of direct selection of suppliers.
According to Pravda, insiders are also surprised that such a task has been assigned to a foreign company. Takt is also not well known company in the Czech Republic or Slovakia.
