The Office of Criminal Police of the Police Presidium checked on the decision of the investigator not to launch a prosecution in the case of Facebook statements of MP for Kotleba-People’s Party Our Slovakia (Kotleba-ĽSNS) Milan Mazurek. The investigator scrutinised his statements for suspicion of the misdemeanour of denying and approving Holocaust and other crimes of political regimes, the SITA newswire wrote on May 26.
After the review, the office concluded that the investigator stuck to the due provisions of the Criminal Order, the Police President Office’s spokeswoman Marianna Paulíková informed SITA. The investigator’s decision probably does not comply, from the factual point of view, with the Criminal Order and from the content of the reasoning, it can be concluded that the investigator did not take all available and necessary steps.
“Investigator’s ruling can be evaluated as issued prematurely,” a press report finds. Based on this, Police President Tibor Gašpar turned in a written form to General Prosecutor Jaromír Čižnár, asking him to scrutinise this ruling, or to cancel it and change the procedure.
The Facebook profile of Milan Mazurek disappeared after media reported about his statements that refugees are a “plague” and “primitive foreigners”. Mazurek was also caught on video vulgarly shouting at a Muslim family during a 2015 anti-Muslim protest.
