Israeli ambassador heckled

A THREESOME of young men carrying a Palestinian flag and a banner saying ‘Stop Jewish racism’ blew whistles in an attempt to silence Israeli ambassador Zeev Boker during a lecture he was giving at Prešov University on the possibilities for the future development of the Middle East from Israel’s point of view, the Sme daily reported.

Two of the protesters were students from the university, while the third allegedly belongs to extremist organisations believed to include Slovenská Pospolitosť.

“The incident has seriously harmed the good name of the school,” said the deputy dean of the Faculty of Philosophy, Vladimír Dančišin.

“I hope it’s just an isolated case,” Ambassador Boker told Sme. “We should be careful. It could have anti-Semitic signs, because the borderline between anti-Semitism and anti-Israelism is very blurred.”
