IT strategy approved

The cabinet approved a strategy for improving Slovakia’s information technology (IT), so that it can catch up to the other states that are entering the EU in May.

According to the Telecom Ministry’s estimates, Slovakia spends Sk6 billion to Sk8 billion (€144 milion to €193 million) annually on IT, but the money is not used effectively, the economic daily Hospodárske noviny wrote.

The latest report on the fulfilment of the action plan eEurope+ stated that the investment has so far failed to contribute to basic developments of the Slovak information society.

The Telecom Ministry also wants to create a special plenipotentiary for the area to coordinate and speed up the process.
