Terchová
Sunny skies and Jánošík folklore drew crowds of over 30,000 to the 37th annual "Jánošík Days" festival August 1 in Terchová. Festival Director Rudolf Patrnčiak said that Slovaks' interest in the brave historical figure has grown over the past few years.
Jánošík (1688 - 1713) is also known as the Slovak Robin Hood. A celebrated Slovak hero, he was hung from a hook through his stomach when caught by the Hungarian Monarchs ruling Slovakia at the time.
