VANDALS desecrated 35 Jewish graves in the northwest Slovak town of Banovce nad Bebravou on the night of January 20, carving swastikas into the snow and causing over Sk100,000 (2,392 euro) in damage.

Alzbeta Schickova, the cemetery's manager, said that this was the fourth such incident in the cemetery's recent history.

One woman who lives near the cemetery told state-run TASR news agency that she was not surprised by the attack.

"Banovce is a fascist town. I'm not surprised at all that they did this," she said. Police are investigating the case.
