A two-day fair, JobExpo, which is expected to be the largest job bourse in Slovakia’s history, kicked off in Nitra on Thursday, April 29.
“A total of 149 exhibitors are taking part in the event. They’re directly offering jobs,” said Viera Tomanová, the minister of Labour, Social Affairs and the Family to the TASR newswire, adding that the fair features both domestic and foreign businesses, educational institutions and universities.
“As many as 400 such jobs are available for the approximately 12,000 jobseekers we expect to come,” said the general director of the Labour, Social Affairs and the Family Centre (ÚPSVaR), Ján Sihelský. He noted that among the exhibitors is the EURES network, offering almost 900,000 jobs throughout the EU.
Economy Minister Ľubomír Jahnátek, who was also present at the opening of the job fair, said that JobExpo attests to the way in which the labour market is gradually recovering from the economic crisis. “Fortunately, unemployment growth has come to a halt for three months now. The biggest exporters, the largest producers in Slovakia have predicted a return to pre-crisis production volumes, which is, of course, connected with hiring new workers,” Jahnátek said.
