THE NUMBER of registered unemployed in Slovakia stood at 13.28 percent in March, down by 0.21 percentage points compared to the previous month. In annual terms the number of jobless fell by 1.4 percentage points, the Central Office of Labour, Social Affairs and Family (ÚPSVaR) informed on April 22.
The labour offices registered 358,285 people ready to take a job immediately in March, which is 5,814, or 1.6 percent, less than in February. Compared to March 2013, their number dropped by 37,967 people, or 9.58 percent.
The total number of unemployed was 14.72 percent in March, down by 0.17 percentage points compared to February, and down by 1.26 percentage points compared to March 2013. The labour offices registered together 397,216 such people. This number was lower by 4,660 people, or 1.16 percent, than the previous month, and lower by 34,166 people, or 7.92 percent, compared to the previous year, according to ÚPSVaR.
All regions of Slovakia saw the number of jobless drop compared to February, except for Bratislava, which reported an increase by 0.06 percentage points. The most significant monthly drop in the unemployment rate was seen in Prešov Region, by 0.43 percentage points.
At the end of March the labour offices reported altogether 4,888 available jobs, which is 378 more than in February. Prešov Region had the highest number of jobs (943), while the fewest were in Trenčín Region (396), according to ÚPSVaR.
