Jobless rate dropped slightly in March

Slovakia's unemployment rate was 13.13 percent in March, a fall of 0.03 percentage points from February but representing a year-on-year rise of 0.25 percentage points, the Labour, Social Affairs and Family Centre (ÚPSVaR) announced on Wednesday, April 20.

"This constitutes a reversal, a change in trend," said ÚPSVaR head Ivan Juráš, as reported by the TASR newswire. The labour market is going through a revival, TASR reported, as the number of available vacancies rose. A total of 392,483 people were registered at labour offices in February, of which 350,328 were immediately available to begin work. The average unemployed person had been registered at a labour office for 13.81 months, down 0.04 months compared to February, but up 0.87 months year-on-year.
