Slovakia’s unemployment rate grew in August in monthly terms while the unemployment rate remained unchanged in the entire eurozone and the European Union, the SITA newswire reported.
Slovakia registered a 13.4 percent jobless rate compared to13.3 percent in July. But the rate was 0.9 percentage points less than in August 2010.
According to data published by Eurostat the unemployment rate in the eurozone countries remained at 10 percent while the whole EU registered a rate of 9.5 percent. In August 2010 the jobless rate in the eurozone stood at 10.2 percent and the entire EU registered a rate of 9.6 percent.
Eurostat also reported that the lowest unemployment rate was in Austria (3.7 percent), followed by the Netherlands (4.4 percent) and Luxembourg (4.9 percent). The highest unemployment rates were in Spain (21.2 percent), Greece (16.7 percent) and Latvia (12.2 percent).
