The Banská Bystrica Region’s government is preparing a special measure to help people negatively affected by the economic crisis.

Unemployed people actively searching for a job will receive a ‘social card’ which will allow them to travel for free in buses operated by the SAD Zvolen and SAD Lučenec transport companies.

“The economic crisis has already come to Banská Bystrica Self-Governing Region (BBSK), and the number of unemployed in this region has been steadily increasing. Thus, many people intend to look for a job not just in their hometown and surroundings, but in more distant parts of this region. I am well aware of the fact that in the poorest regions, people are having to consider whether to spend money on travelling costs or on food,” the head of the BBSK, Milan Murgaš, told the TASR newswire. More details of the project are to be provided next week. TASR
