US company Johnson Controls has started building its new plant in the southern Slovak town of Lučenec where it will produce foam filling for car seats, the daily SME reported.
The planned investment stands at Sk790 million (€20 million). The new plant will create 350 jobs and partial production will start in the first half of 2006. Full production will start in 2007.
The production should go mainly to the new Slovak production plant of South Korean carmaker KIA near Žilina.
Another investor, Italian company Technogym, also started building its new plant in the area.
The Italians will invest Sk300 million (€7.6 million) into a plant in the town of Malý Krtíš producing sporting devices for fitness centres.
By the end of 2005 Technogym should employ 100 people, rising to 50 at a later date.
