As the daily Pravda wrote on August 30, in the early morning hours of Wednesday, August 29, the home of Naďa Šindlerová, a Plus 7 Dní weekly magazine reporter, was almost set on fire after someone splashed petrol on one of the walls and set it alight.
"I found a can outside, under the window, and I also spotted a car driving away," Šindlerová said about the incident.
The attack may be related to a proceeding at the Special Court, where a case involving the Okoličány mafia is taking place. Šindlerová covers the case in the latest issue of Plus 7 Dní, which went on sale in Bratislava on August 28 and is available elsewhere around the country as of August 30.
The reporter herself considers the attack a threat on the journalistic community.
"All journalists should now unite and fight for a law that protects the media, as, for example, public officials are. It's our duty to write about mafia types as well as about politicians," she added. TASR
