CANDIDATE for judge Judita Gabonaiová-Hrenčuková, whom President Andrej Kiska failed to appoint, is back in the game. The winner of the selection procedure at the Rožňava District Court repeatedly won the trust of the Judicial Council. The President will thus have to deal with her appointment again, Sme daily reported on October 21.
In August the president sent a letter to Judicial Council deputy chair Ján Vanko in which he cited several reasons that led to his stopping the proceeding. The candidate, for example, did not succeed in any other selection procedure. She works at the district court to which she would be appointed, and her mother has been a judge at the same court for several years. Moreover, those who selected her were picked by the president of the very same court, as reported by the TASR newswire.
“Doubts were also raised by the fact that the candidate won only after the oral part of the testing, in which she significantly, but without any possibility for reviewing it, outperformed the other candidates,” Kiska’s spokesperson Peter Petrus said on August 26, as quoted by TASR.
The Judicial Council, however, failed to reveal new circumstances in the respective documents that would question its previous decision and even the fact that her mother work at the same place where Gabonaiová-Hrenčuková succeeded is okay, according to council.
“Her mother is a regular judge and didn’t have any influence on creating of commission,” the head of Judicial Council Jana Bajánková said, as quoted by Sme.
