Anton Fábry, the director of the Justice and Prison Guard Department (ZVJS), said that 7,491 convicts filled 82.4% of the nation's prison capacity in 18 prisons. Some 200 inmates are foreigners, 300 are women and 6,991 are men. Less than 2% are juvenile offenders.

The ZVJS has registered three prison escape attempts over the past two years, none of which were successful.
