THE JUSTICE Ministry has proposed that Slovakia's law on access to information be revised so that the wages of state and municipal officials are publicly available, the daily SME reported.
Currently state officials wages are not publicly available because the state's Office for the Protection of Personal Data categorizes the information as private, and therefore it cannot be published.
The ministry wants to change this situation by proposing that the use of public funds for officials' wages cannot be classified as non-public data.
"If someone is paid from the public purse, the public has a right to know how much they earn," said Justice Minister Daniel Lipšic.
