THE JUSTICE Ministry is preparing to petition the Constitutional Court in connection with Slovak President Ivan Gašpa-rovič's refusal to appoint Vladimír Tvaroška as vice governor of the National Bank of Slovakia (NBS).
Tvaroška's nomination was approved by government and parliament in March, but was finally rejected by Gašparovič last week. Justice Minister Lucia Žitňanská has been authorised to prepare a motion, and will base her argument on a controversial interpretation of the president's powers.
The president said Tvaroška was not qualified because he did not have the experience required by the law.
