The decision of the coalition to continue in its current form and not discuss early elections gave another impulse to people who have protested in the streets of Slovak cities and abroad the past two weeks.

The organisers of the Bratislava protest have slightly modified their demands, and are now calling for early elections.
With their March 14 announcement, Fico, Danko and particularly Bugár “have humiliated and deceived all civil society”, the organisers said.
“Their efforts to maintain power by hook or crook is a clear signal that they want to sweep all corruption cases under the carpet,” they wrote on Facebook, “the cases the murdered investigative journalist Ján Kuciak wrote about.”
In their opinion, “the entire intimidation, contempt of decent people and indifference towards active citizens” is the reason for declaring a new election.

“We need a new chance for a decent and fair Slovakia, so we are asking for early elections,” the organisers added. “This is currently the only possibility for attempting to restore the trust of people in the state. The only possibility to return decency to politics.”
Last Friday, March 9, more than 100,000 people attended protest gatherings in many Slovak towns as well as abroad
