Speaker of the Slovak parliament and head of the Christian Democratic Movement (KDH) Pavol Hrušovský called on Rača mayor Pavol Bielik, who is charged with bribery, to resign.
Hrušovský also wants to see Bielik resign all his party positions, wrote the daily SME.
Bielik is facing criminal prosecution in connection with a Sk5 million (€125,000) bribery scandal. Bielik allegedly demanded the money in return for helping a firm to get a construction permit.
However, Bielik says he sees no reason to resign and denies being involved in any criminal activity.
