The complaint, against an unnamed perpetrator, is based on information published by the Sme daily earlier this week. The KDH requested that the prosecutor question Prime Minister and Smer chairman Robert Fico, former Smer MP Bohumil Hanzel, and the head of the Cabinet Office, Igor Federič.

Figeľ said that he and Lipšic had filed the criminal complaint based on information circulated in the media this week which indicated that offences such as tax evasion, indirect corruption, obtaining of unlawful benefits, acceptance of bribes and possibly others had been committed, the SITA newswire reported.

Lipšic stated that suspicion that a crime may have been committed is based not only on the statements of former Smer member Bohumil Hanzel but that evidence exists in document form. He mentioned a contract between the former Smer “image-maker” Fedor Flašík and a businessman in the energy sector, Ľubomír Blaško. Lipšic expects that the case will be assigned to the Special Prosecutor’s Office as it involves corruption as well as perhaps to the Office for Fight against Corruption.
